The Bambu Vision
The founders of Bambu Lab set out to improve what they saw as the more frustrating parts of 3D printing:
- Difficult support removal
- Uncertainties with overnight printing
- Failed prints
- Flimsy materials
- A lack of colour options
The Bambu Lab X1-Carbon printer represents their best effort yet at solving these problems. Recognised as one of the “Best Inventions of 2022” by Time magazine, the X1 is Bambu Lab’s flagship printer. With advanced features like active vibration compensation, which is crucial for a printer this fast, AI-powered first layer inspection, and dual auto bed levelling, Bambu Lab’s X1 is a serious contender for best desktop printer.
Multiple Colours and Multiple Materials
- Bambu Lab’s Automatic Material System (AMS) provides a stress-free multi-colour printing experience.
- Attach multiple AMSs to use up to 16 different colours and 16 different materials in one print.
- The AMS is compatible with all of our Bambu Lab printers.
- Create vibrant multi-colour and multi-material prints.
Ultra Fast Print Times
- Advanced software and hardware solutions by Bambu Lab address challenges associated with quick printing.
- Their proprietary slicing program, Bambu Studio, features ‘Arch Move‘ technology for smooth tool-head movement and reduced vibration.
- Bambu Studio enables the cooling parameters to be specific to each filament, auto slow-down for overhanging surfaces, and an arc-fitting method for 3D modelling.
- The X1-Carbon, P1P and P1S printers utilize the CoreXY motion system, allowing for print speeds up to 500mm/s!

AI-Powered Printing
- Bambu Lab printers use advanced AI-powered software for reliable and high-quality printing.
- Micro Lidar technology, available on the X1 printer, continuously scans the print surface for precise nozzle height adjustment and flow rate calibration.
- Lidar system measurements are cross-checked with analogue force sensors for additional accuracy.
- Intelligent features like spaghetti detection and first-layer error inspection are included to minimize errors and deliver flawless prints, even at high speeds.

FAQs
Commonly asked questions about Bambu Lab:
Setting up the P1P or the X1-Carbon typically requires less than 15 minutes
Simply remove the heat bed set’s screws, connect to wifi, and install the software, including the mobile app. The process takes slightly longer for AMS packages, which involves the unscrewing of heat bed and AMS set screws. Calibrating the AMS system also requires additional time compared to non-AMS setups, but it doesn’t take too long at all.
- The AMS system allows you to use 4 different colours and a variety of different materials in a single print. The X1-Carbon and the P1P can use this system to switch between filaments seamlessly, even within a single layer.
- The Bambu Studio system determines the sequence and flow of filament by analysing the colour arrangement of the 3D file. It calculates how much of each filament will be needed for each single layer to achieve the desired colour outcome. The result is the printing of multicoloured parts with ease.
- Third party slicers are supported, but they limit the functionality to only single coloured printing. The AMS can’t be utilised, and features like first-layer inspection don’t work either. We’d recommend using Bambu Lab’s excellent Bambu Studio for your slicing needs.
- At roughly half the price of the X1-Carbon, the P1P is the more accessible option. But the P1P can also produce exceptional parts very quickly.
- Both the X1-Carbon and the P1P can print at 500mm/s, both have filament run-out sensors, and both work easily with the mobile app.
- The X1-Carbon does, however, feature the AMS system as standard; on the P1P, the AMS is an optional extra. The X1-Carbon’s print head also allows for printing in exotic filaments like carbon fibre, and its auto bed levelling feature uses LiDAR technology for more reliable printing. The P1P therefore has fewer extra features than the X1C, but at half the price point, both are truly great options.
