Ultimaker has today released several new products to enhance your 3D printing experience, as well as new software updates for the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 3 Series. The new products consist of Ultimaker PP (polypropylene), 0.8mm print cores and an Ultimaker 3 Advanced 3D Printing Kit. Here’s a summary of today’s announcement:
Ultimaker PP
Ultimaker PP (polypropylene) is a versatile thermoplastic. Commonly used to manufacture consumer products and plastic parts such as living hinges, PP is extremely tough and fatigue resistant. Ultimaker PP is a high-performance filament that’s optimised for use with the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 3 series.
0.8mm print cores
The Ultimaker 3’s AA and BB print cores are now available with a 0.8mm nozzle size. These new print cores allow for even faster 3D printing, to increase print output and printer uptime. They can be used to manufacture everything from prototypes and mock-ups to end-use parts for mechanical applications.
Ultimaker 3 Advanced 3D Printing Kit
Ultimaker has released a new Advanced 3D Printing Kit for the Ultimaker 3. The kit contains a front enclosure for the printer that helps maintain a more stable internal temperature, and new adhesion sheets that provide better surface adhesion. The kit can be used with ABS, PP, CPE+, or PC. Ultimaker says it ensures consistent quality results.
Optimised printing profiles
Ultimaker have also announced optimised 3D printing profiles for the Ultimaker 3 for many existing materials. The print profiles for CPE+, PC, TPU 95A, and PVA have been updated for improved reliability and consistency. There’s now also a new print profile that supports a CPE/PVA combination.
Firmware update
Ultimaker’s latest firmware update to version 3.7.1 brings with it several useful features. These include the ability to restart a print directly from the Ultimaker 3, and a new print core cleaning function within the menu. Stability improvements have also been made to improve overall user experience.
Cura update
Ultimaker’s latest software update for Cura includes a number of new features. Cura 2.6.1 includes 0.8mm print core settings, better support settings and new print profiles for Ultimaker PP. This update also includes the optimised printing profiles mentioned above. It is now also easier to backup with local version folders.
