Formlabs has announced the additional launch of two new BioMed Resins for biocompatible 3D printing: BioMed Black Resin and BioMed White Resin, optimised for both biocompatibility and performance these two highly opaque medical-grade materials ready to fuel innovation in medical manufacturing.

In 2020, Formlabs introduced BioMed Resins to provide healthcare customers with medical-grade, functional materials to manufacture innovative, biocompatible solutions. The BioMed Resin family, includes BioMed Clear Resin and BioMed Amber Resin, is targeted for a wide range of healthcare applications, helping advance 3D printing for medical devices and point-of-care manufacturing and providing new possibilities for the wider healthcare community.
BioMed White Resin is a rigid material for biocompatible applications requiring long-term skin contact or short-term mucosal membrane contact. Unique in our portfolio, this medical-grade material is also USP <151> Pyrogen and Acute Systemic toxicity tested and can be used in applications with short-term tissue, bone, and dentin contact.

BioMed Black Resin is a rigid material with a matte finish for biocompatible applications requiring long-term skin contact or short-term mucosal membrane contact.

Parts printed with BioMed Black Resin and BioMed White Resin are compatible with common solvent disinfection and sterilisation methods. All Formlabs BioMed Resins are manufactured in their ISO 13485 facility and are also USP Class VI certified. When paired with Formlabs’ SLA printers, BioMed resins have been validated to produce multiple 510(k) cleared devices making medical 3D printing for medical device firms and hospitals even more efficient and cost-effective.

These two new resins are compatible with the Formlabs Form 2, Form 3B, Form 3BL, Form 3B+ 3D printers and the following resin tanks: Form 2 LT Tank, Form 3/3B Resin Tank V2, Form 3L/3BL Resin Tank V2
