The Formlabs Form 2 is the successor to the Formlabs Form 1+, building on its predecessor with the technology and features you’d expect from a 2015 flagship. The Form 2 has a laser four times more powerful than its predecessor, allowing it to print up to 50% faster, and a redesigned galvanometer control system that produces a smoother and better finish to prints.
Bigger, faster, simpler and just plain better – the Form 2 is a sensational update to the Form 1+.
In the words of Formlabs themselves, this is “the most advanced desktop 3D printer ever created” in the stereolithography (SLA) category, with a new sliding peel mechanism that gently removes parts from the print bed, and a new more efficient wiper system that glides across the optical window. The laser is 130mW more powerful than its predecessor, The Form 1+, and this is guided by new custom galvanometers to create each layer with incredible detail.
The killer feature of the Form 2, despite its speed and its level of detail however, is the new automated resin system. This automatically refills the resin tank with new resin when levels get too low. And the tank itself is heated, maintaining a constant temperature of 35 °C for repeatable, dependable and consistent prints.
