Zortrax has announced a brand-new 3D printer today. The M300 Dual prints using dual-extrusion LPD Plus technology, which deposits melted material layer by layer onto the build platform. The dual-extrusion setup of the M300 Dual simultaneously prints with separate support and base filaments. This allows it to print large models with relatively complex geometries faster than the M300 Plus, which uses single extrusion.
Quick facts
– LPD Plus dual-extrusion technology
– Single and dual extrusion modes
– 265 x 265 x 300 mm workspace
– Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity
– Blackout response system
– Compatible with perforated, glass, and other build platforms
– Single and dual extrusion modes
– Works with third-party filaments
– Built-in video streaming camera
You can run the M300 Dual as a single extrusion 3D printer or as a dual extrusion 3D printer to suit the application at hand. You would use the dual extrusion mode when printing intricate models with support structure. The single extrusion mode is most suitable to simple models printed in materials at a lower temperature.
With its 265 x 265 x 300 mm build volume the M300 Dual has a smaller build volume than the M300 Plus’s 300 x 300 x 300 mm. However, it is bigger than the M200 Plus’s 200 x 200 x 180mm. The extruder system is all-new for the M300 Dual. It is an upgrade over the already excellent M300 Plus’s.
You can print with any Zortrax filaments – Z-PHA, Z-NYLON, Z-FLEX, Z-PLA Pro, Z-PETG, Z-PCABS, Z-SEMIFLEX, Z-ULTRAT, Z-HIPS, Z-GLASS, Z-ESD, Z-ASA Pro, Z-ABS – as well as third party materials in dual and single extrusion mode, such as budget PLA or ABS.
Interestingly, the M300 Dual is compatible with perforated, glass, and other build platforms, boosting its use cases considerably. All of them are automatically calibrated thanks to a capacitive displacement sensor. This makes switching out build platforms simpler by taking away the need for manual calibration.
As you’d expect the M300 Dual comes with a variety of connectivity options including Wi-Fi, USB, and Ethernet connectivity. Models can be loaded onto the printer directly from a USB stick or sent wirelessly. The choice is yours.
Additional features include material end detection, blackout detection (when a power outage is detected, the printer automatically saves the position of the printing head to resume from the same spot when the power is back on), thin wall detection (in software) and an in-built video streaming camera – this allows you to monitor prints in real-time and record the process, which is always a useful feature.
There’s also a new touchscreen interface and internals. The M300 Dual is powered by Android (a highly customised version of it) with a quad-core processor. The touchscreen is quite a high resolution (800 x 400), through which you can manage prints at source, while automatic firmware updates over Wi-Fi will bring all future interface functionalities directly to the printer.
As with all 3D printers in the Zortrax range, the M300 Dual comes with Z-SUITE, a dedicated slicing application. It offers tabbed projects and pre-loaded material profiles. All you have to do is load your digital project and Z-SUITE will automatically convert it to a ready-to-print model.

We recommend the M300 Dual as a direct upgrade to the M200 Plus, if your workspace allows for its bigger footprint. If this will be your first 3D printer or your first dip into the Zortrax brand, the M300 Dual is a good choice for engineers, designers and manufacturers of custom products. It’s one of the smartest and most efficient FFF 3D printers on the market today, as well as one of the most reliable and consistent.
