In April, Essentium launched a new 3D printer called the HSE 280i HT.

Independent Dual Extrusion technology

The HSE 280i HT utilises IDEX, but what is IDEX?

With IDEX technology, or Independent Dual Extrusion technology, each print head is fully independent on both the X and Y-axis and both extruders have their own X and E axes.

This setup has several advantages, including rapid build speeds, the ability to print two colours at the same time, and the ability to use two different materials in one single print.

The benefits to this technology are simple: the HSE 280i HT reliably delivers print speeds of more than 500 mm/s at scale. This is five to 15x faster than the average desktop 3D printer, giving you a significant production advantage.

Designed to solve manufacturing challenges

The HSE 280i HT utilises a non-slip, high torque extrusion system. This has all linear servo motors and industrial-grade mechatronics. This setup delivers extreme reliability, enabling rapid manufacturing without any downtime.

The HSE 280i HT also doesn’t use a heated build chamber. Instead, it has a multimodal heating method that heats the part, not the chamber. This eliminates the need to wait for the chamber to heat before starting printing.

HSE 280i HT applications

The HSE 280i HT is the first industrial 3D printer that offers true IDEX (that is, true independent dual extruders with independent X and Y-axis movement).

Other 3D printers that offer IDEX only have semi-independent extruders.

This gives you two 3D printers for the price of one. You can print multiple identical or unique parts at the same time 5 to 15x faster than a regular 3D printer.
